Lesson 1: How a Catholic Starts to Read the Bible

(Sheesh, guys, I'm gone for two weeks thinking I'd be a chapter behind and the Bible study hasn't even started yet.  LOL. I'd like to hear others thoughts on the first chapter.)

It is interesting to read the Old Testament in light of God revealing Himself to us.  Catholics certainly aren't the only ones to believe that certainly (think Islam/Baha'i).  However, being more familiar with the Old Testament and seeing the prophecies fulfilled in the New Testament by Jesus is exciting.  Frankly, I was only vaguely familiar with OT Bible stories until MOH1 which I used last year with my children.

I am so grateful that the Church teaches that God reveals Himself in three ways: Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium.  God is continually guiding us today through His Church.  Does that mean the Church can evolve/change as humanity evolves/changes?  I know not everyone was on board with Vatican II....

"A good way to understand salvation history is by seeing it as a series of ever-broadening covenants between God and humanity." - Hahn
