I'm not sure if this is even the right place to post this but I understand that most of you are adherent Catholics and many here are converts.

Is anyone else deeply saddened by the current situation with Fr. Corapi?  I listened to him preach so many times during my conversion and he is the last priest I would have suspected to leave the priesthood.

To be honest, I am feeling stress about it.  If this can happen to a dedicated priest, one who preached powerfully and truthfully, knew the Catechism in detail and was committed to Jesus, then this can happen to anyone.  I know we are all susceptible to sin and to failure but this seems so epic to me.

I'm just so sad about it.  cry

I have not followed this story - in fact, it is only recently that I heard he was no longer on EWTN due to some trouble.  We only had cable for 1 year, and that was 2 yrs. ago.  We listened to him a few times on the computer.

Fr. Corapi's talks were some of our favorite.  He was also an excellent role model for my teenage son.

So, he left the priesthood?  Does anyone know why?  This is very sad.  Our family will pray for him.  Is there anything else any of us can do?

Denise

I too am very sad about it. Sometimes I wonder if he is addicted to drugs again, since his behavior is somewhat consistent with that of an addict.

While he has left the church, I heard someone (on the radio this week) sum it up very well-- his actions do not invalidate his past preaching. The talks and teaching he has done over the years are still TRUTH, and have drawn many people to the Church (or, in my case, back to the Church).

We need to pray for him.

Thanks for the links, Brianamouse.  Honestly, I don't know what to think.  Whatever the truth is, and I'm sure in lies somewhere between all the opinions and sides, I am sure Mr. Corapi needs our prayers.  I do hope he can find his way back to being a good priest.  We need many strong, male leaders in the Church.

I will keep this situation from my children, especially my oldest.  Right now, he seems to need to be kept sheltered as much as possible from the world and all it's "events."
